The B.M. Franklin & Co. Story
Brandon Franklin’s journey into the world of hatmaking began in 2009. After his time with Ralph Lauren, he discovered one of New York City’s oldest surviving hat shops—established in 1922—where he would unknowingly step into the foundation of his life’s work.
Within its walls, Brandon spent over five and a half years immersed in the discipline of traditional craftsmanship, working with century-old tools and mastering time–honored techniques. Those same methods, honed through patience and apprenticeship, remain woven into every piece he crafts today.
In 2014 ,B.M. Franklin & Co. was born. Rooted originally in New York City, the atelier quickly became known for its dedication to classical training, refined technique, and the use of the world’s finest fur felts and hand-woven straws. Brandon’s passion for detail, fellowship, and the intimate art of one-on-one consultation shaped the essence of the brand—an experience as meaningful as the hat itself.
Our philosophy has always remained the same: not to reinvent the wheel or meddle with the integrity of the craft, but to bring expression, creativity, and individuality to each piece we produce. With over a decade of experience, we stand by our work as heirloom objects—built to last a lifetime and crafted to be passed down to the next generation.
The Atlanta Chapter — Five Years in the Making
In 2020, B.M. Franklin & Co. opened its doors in Atlanta, marking the beginning of a new and meaningful chapter in the brand’s story. What began as an extension of the New York atelier quickly evolved into a thriving creative hub—embraced by a community that values tradition, artistry, and the quiet luxury of something made by hand.
For the past five years, our Atlanta atelier in Buckhead Village has become a gathering place for collectors, creators, and those seeking a deeper connection to craftsmanship. It is here that countless fittings, conversations, and custom pieces have taken shape—each one contributing to the rich tapestry of our southern chapter.
Atlanta has allowed us to expand our fellowship, strengthen our artistry, and continue sharing the timeless craft of hatmaking with a region that has welcomed us with genuine warmth. This milestone marks not only five years of service but five years of storytelling, relationships, and shared creative expression.
